Jeff and I first met in elementary school and over the years we would see other in class. He was always a fun guy and I was able to chat with him at one of the last reunions about the good old days. I always loved his smile.

Jeff was wise way beyond his years & had a devastatingly dry wit. We played on the same team in little league, he was a pretty good pitcher and one of those hitters that truly earned the “Wow, if he ever gets ahold of one he’ll hit it to Mars” remark. In Jr. High he was one of the infamous All-Jeff front row in English class. There were four that I remember, me, Weldon, Green and Graves. Poor Mrs. Bogesvang would get a four-part chorus of “Yes?” whenever she called the name Jeff. I think she finally caught on. The best times were in Mrs. Honeyman’s Geometry class. I remember how he used to sit in the back, reciting pi out to at least nine places. Many times he would amuse himself (and us) by wearing his trademark smirk because he knew it drove her straight up the wall-
He questioned all manner of authority while keeping a poetic, musical, heart. I’ve always considered him the John Lennon of our class. Rest well, Brother Jeff -
