Haven't posted in a while much going on. Sorry I missed the BBQ but I was on a dive boat in Belize at the time! Had a wonderful week of great diving. Felt like I was doing the discovery channel thing, got excellent footage of eagle rays, turtles, mantas, numerous squids and a killer eel; literally. I've never seen an eel attack and kill something and it was amazing! Got to dive the Great Blue Hole of Belize; its big and its blue, otherwise very
underwhelming, OK so there's stalagtites at 130 ft, and 140 and 150 all the way down so kinda of cool. Got to innertube down a river though caves and got out of town just before the big storm. Since then work, work and more work. But at least we still here by the grace of God. Anyone heard from Scott Righetti tried to send an e-mail to his usual addie at the state dept and it came back to me. Hope he's doing well. Love to everyone.

Adam, your "last words" have been like an echo in an empty room for almost 6 weeks. I think you must hold some kind of record here.

I have nothing intelligent to say, just wondering if anyone else ever checks in here anymore?

A resounding 'Thank You!' to the few and the proud who braved the elements and showed up for the 1st Annual 'In-Between Reunions Reunion'. Honorable mentions to Don Headley and Dave Menefee for their respective long-distance journeys- it was good to see them win the 3 legged race so they wouldn't feel they'd come all that way just to watch some turkey franks burn! Kudos to Bruce Hensel for winning the Snipe Hunt and Hide and Seek competition-

Yes, Virginia, we'll do it again next year.

Here's an early report on the first "Saturday in the Park" (26-Year Reunion) event: Turnout was light, although I thought it was reasonable for a first time event organized over the Internet. The following people made an appearance at one time or another: Jeff Bringle, Adam Corob, Carol Cementina, Don Headley, Tommy Gin, David Menefee, Mark White, Roy Tuson, and Brian Bullock, along with family members. We'll eventually put up some pictures on the Website. Thanks to Jeff Bringle for initiating the idea and organizing it. The consensus is that we want to try it again next
year. Hope more of you can make it next time.

Man, I can't believe I spaced out. Well, yes I can. Alzheimers. My mom is going to be in town (mine) that weekend, and hopefully I will be setting tile in my newly remodeled bathroom. Had a drain pipe break almost two years ago and we are finally getting around to fixing it (hows that for apathetic?). We have a nice inconspicuous bright blue ajax plastic portable toilet out front. Cant wait to get the bathroom back. Anyway, won't be there. Darn!!!

A while back, Michelle asked people to tell how they got where they are now. If you don't mind reading a book, I can tell you my story. It started out in SLO. But then I moved to Mammoth for a winter, and when I got back, my mom introduced me to this great guy. I moved to Eureka to attend College of the Redwoods (and then hopefully Humboldt - that never happened). This great guy and I got married. He tried to get a job as a teacher in Fortuna, but Prop 13 passed and so he got a job as a seasonal aid with the Department of Fish and Game. Well so did I. He stayed with it and
I bounced around. Lifeguard,Swim teacher, park aid, teachers aid, Camp counselor, Camp Director, back to lifeguard, back to swim teacher, fabric store assistant manager, back to seasonal aid, and finally, Office Assistant with the Employment Development Department. Longest 4 1/2 months of my life. Over to State Parks for a little over a year, and then, finally, back to Fish and Game. I've been there now for 6 years in this incarnation. I LOVE what I do. I am working with the Marine Life Management Act (legislation passed in 1998 mandating Fish and Game to do certain things). My husband became a marine biologist in 1984 and we moved here to Monterey. Ive lived longer in this house now than I lived in SLO. Been some bumps and bruises along the way, but all in all, we are very happy and having a lot of fun together.

I am parked here in Utah, surrounded by my greatest fans, my family. I always wanted 7 kids and I actually had them all! Now I love raising them and spoiling 5 grandchildren. I would love to continue to hear about YOU. I wish that I could make it to the bbq. It would be a blast to see everyone! High school was a pretty fun time...love to think about it all.

Just a reminder: the BBQ at Cuesta Park is still on for August 4th(see Class of '75 homepage for details). It's $5 per family, not $10. As of this message, I've received a total of zero (0) positive confirmations on attendance. While this is not entirely surprising for this class, it does become rather a large stick in the spokes of any future get togethers in-between the 5 Year Interval Reunions.

Cast aside the chains of apathy- If you will be attending the BBQ, please RSVP by July 20th to my email address above and simply typing "BBQ/yes" in the subject header.

With Father's Day coming up I thought the father's out there might enjoy this:

WHAT MAKES A DAD
God took the strength of a mountain,
the majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
the calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need.

Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew his masterpiece was complete,

And so, He called it....Dad.

Thanks, Adam- but I've already got Bruce volunteered to lead the scavenger hunt. The first item is a tuft of snipe fur. As for the BBQ, we've dropped the "fee" to $5 as we're not looking for a profit, just enough to cover expenses. We still need lettuce and two or three types of dressing, as well as soft drinks, water, ice and vinyl trash cans or similar containers to hold them.

You all know the drill............ Please email me if you'd like to contribute one or the other and shun the demon apathy. Oh, and bring some spare change- we're going to raffle off Bruce's car.

On the other hand, the Class of 1976 site has had only one message in over a month. And they're having their reunion this year! If I can be so immodest, I think we used our site better than any of the SLOSH classes before our reunion.

Are any of you "Survivor" fans? I was a big fan of the first one and also watched the second one. I'm such a fan that I'm involved in some discussion boards about the show. The general view is that the first one was better for a number of reasons, including the fact that it was something that had never been experienced before.

It's ironic to me, then, that the peak of the activity on this message board corresponded to the period when the first Survivor aired. It might be the same situation; the message board and Website was such a new experience that the feeling of "the first time" may not be able to be duplicated. Am I getting a little carried away here?

That is really so very helpful. If you keep that up, I may actually have no choice but to swing my bag at you, providing I recognize you, that is.

And I just bet that you "help" little old ladies across the street, too!

Michelle-
It's really quite simple, yet quite devious. OOT is really a double secret reversed alphabet/numerology "signature". Simply put: counting backwards from Z, O is the 12th letter, and T is the 7th. Therefore, and thusly, O(12) + O(12) + T(7)= 31 = 3 + 1 = 4.  Look up the number 4 in the website photos of the reunion and you'll find the author, or , in this case, authorette: Candy Ryan. Now, all that remains is to find out why. You're welcome.

Russ-Runto, I don't have any updates on any of the folks you mentioned, but you did trigger a memory of something I'd forgotten till now. Doyle White was my first real date. We went bowling at Laurel Lanes (does that sign still read "LWOB"?) and I think his whole family went along too. He was quite the gentleman--for a 9th grader anyway! I was tongue-tied (can you imagine?) and bowled a few gutter-balls as I remember it. His
family lived in a really cool house in Squire Canyon, where my parents still live.

I don't know if anyone is up for anything serious, but you probably know that there was another high school shooting yesterday, this one down here in the San Diego area. Does anyone want to say anything? I'm particularly interested in what those of you who have high school aged kids have to say. How do their experiences differ from the ones we had in high school? I'm glad that my daughter is only three (on February 24); I've got a ways to go.
