Jeff, I read once that speaking in public is second only death by suffocation in terms of people's fears. I want to keep your thought about what you had me pegged as in mind for a future question. I don't want to move away from Michelle's question yet.

Michelle, good question, but you didn't answer it. How did you get into nursing, etc.?

Alan, I think you had a lot of company back then, and I'm sure it will never come easily for most of us. I always had you pegged as a guy with a lab coat and a Nobel Prize. Maybe these are just some more dues you have to pay. My days are spent marking up blueprints with my awesome set of colored pencils! I'm sure glad I paid attention in Geometry..............

I don't know if people remember, but I had a lot of trouble speaking in front of groups, particularly in Junior High. Now my work involves speaking in front of classes. I also make speeches in the community about the local economy (I'm giving one this Friday). Who would've thunk it?

Good question Michelle! I was in my last quarter at Poly, and didn't have a part time job at the time. I asked my father if he needed any help around the Insurance office. Now it's 20 years later, he is retired, and I have bought the business. I don't know when I might retire. Hopefully it will be before I get too old. Maybe when I am retired and get to be as old as Candy's parents, I will be able to "get busy" again.

Hola, Matt...good to know you are still "with us". What kind of T-shirt Orders are these? Not SLOSH customers, I presume?

Now here's a new idea--I'd like to hear about everyone's work and what they love/hate about their job. How did you get into the kind of work you do, and do you have other career aspirations before retirement? Since were all too old to have sex anymore (thanks Adam), we might as well do *something* productive with our remaining years, eh?

PS to Matt: My son Sammy says Hi!

I suggest everyone who paid for a MB should contact Leslie Edmondson Cruzen (she's in the Class Directory) and ask for an update. Leslie is the one who collected the $ for the dang things. And for the record, the Bench fund is an independent entity and questions about THAT should be directed to M. J. Johnson. BTW, I have taken my own advice, but have received no reply as yet.

Hi everyone...first, lets all be congratulated on the 6-month anniversary of this Message Board. Even tho we have had periods of Message BORED, I for one am impressed at the almost 800 entries since we started on 4/12/00. Course we have to credit R**** with a fair # of these, still, it's not too bad for a class known for excelling in apathy...Thanks to Alan Gin for all his Web Work.

Ringing Mr.(J) Bringle...I have come up with some leads in locating former teachers. My parents tell me that Rusty Duval keeps tabs on a lot of folks, he still lives in the "old neighborhood" and would be a great resource. Seems he is involved in the Black & Gold Booster Club, as are many alums and former faculty members. I think there's B&G info on the SLOSH web page (also linked to our class page). Several who still live in the area are: Park, Carl, Dollahon,Lefebvre, Cook, Rosewall, Francis, Harvey, Richardson, Honeyman. (some were Jr. Hi only). No new info on Ms. Jones however.

Waiting for Alan to add the last batch of names to the photos, then I'll fill in what I remember. Thanks Mike for the cute joke, hope others are inspired. Happy Friday the 13th everyone! Go outside tonight and look at the beautiful full moon...

This page needs some good, clean jokes. Enjoy! Jack was going to be married to Jill, so hisfather sat him down fora little fireside chat. He said, "Jack, let metell you something. On my wedding night, in our honeymoon suite, Itook off my pantsand handed them to your mother and said, 'Here, try these on.So she did, and she said, 'These are too big. Ican't wear them.So I said, 'Exactly...I wear the pants in thisfamily and always will.Ever since that night we have never had any problems.' "Hmmmm,"thought Jack, "That might be a good thing to try.So on his honeymoon, Jack takes off his pants and says to Jill,"Here, try these on." She does and says, "Theseare too big. Theydon't fit me." To which Jack replies,"Exactly...I wear the
pants inthis family and always will, and I don't wantyou to ever forget that."Then Jill takes off her pants and hands them toJack and says,"Here, you try on mine." Jack does and says, "Ican't get into your pants." And Jill says, "Exactly...and if you don'tchange your attitude, younever will."

It doesn't seem like its only been 7 weeks since I saw everyone. The memories are still pretty fresh. Speaking of fresh, just wanted to say thanks to all you single and not single guys who were so sweet to me at the various reunion activities . . . gee, I wish I'd been that popular in school!!!! Maybe I'd have had some decent dates! How about the question of the week, who did you have a crush on in high school that still makes your heart skip a beat today. (Maybe that ought to be an anonymous entry!) There was a guy in my sister's class, his name was Paul Galus (I think) I just thought he was sooooo cuuuttte!! He drove his dad's green MGT 6+, maybe that's why I bought 2 MG's myself. Wonder what he looks like now??? probably fat and bald . . . oh well. Or, who do you think has bloomed since school? Hi Guys, I spoke with Hal Rosewall last night. He said that he and a bunch of his old "Frat" brothers were pretty drunk one day while out on Nacimiento Lake. He was taking his turn to ski on his "home made" O'Brien replica water ski. Hal claims that the guys in the boat were going way too fast. He crashed, tumbled, and the water ski hit his leg just below the knee, breaking both bones. When the boat came around to pick him up, everyone was laughing at his spectacular fall. They didn't know that he had broken his leg. Hal says that he had a cast for 6 months. He didn't remember what he did with the ski.

Well, have you ever heard of someone breaking a finger waterskiing? That was my trick. Using the two-handle tow rope instead of a single bar, caught my right-index finger in the corner when I fell, broke the bone and nearly tore the finger off near the first knuckle. (I'm the one who had missing-digit nightmares!) I spent the first month of 11th grade with my arm & hand in a cast, learning to be ambidextrious.

The story about Hal Rosewall is true. I think he was showing off for one of his many girlfriends, trying to shore-land, and crashed into a dock. He spent the first month of that year (our 8th or 9th grade year?) in a full-length leg cast. Later that same year he sawed up his hand. Wasn't that event during a mini-course, one of the first co-ed shop classes? Can you believe we were the last of the generation that required all the boys to take shop and the girls to endure home ec?Can you believe I'm still babbling? Sorry...

Yes Candy, I'll agree that MBH is the best of the bunch! Is it out on DVD yet? Can't never go wrong with Steve Martin! My sister saw Rick Moranis in Shell Beach when they were filming here, said he was very nice. They also used part of Sally Ekegrin's house on Chorro St.

Then there's always "Personal Best" with Mariel Hemingway, they filmed a lot of that one at Holt Field & the Fremont Theatre.

Pity me! My Blue Heaven is still one of my favorite movies - I own a copy! I love the part where Steve Martin teaches Rick Moranis to Merengue! If only all of life's little problems could be solved with a little booty shaking! *sigh*

Hi CK! In a feeble attempt to "converse", does anyone (or Team Runto) remember the movie they filmed at Avila in the late 70's? I believe it was called "California Dreaming" and starred no one we'll ever remember. I've seen it on cable TV sometime in the last decade. And I actually recognized the place. I think most of those buildings are gone now. Then there's My Blue Heaven...

Sheesh! Step out for a bite and look what happens. My identity is up for auction on eBay, item #412886541. Minimum bid is very reasonable. Runto is pleased to hear the reunion went off without a hitch. ('cept for MJ actually showing up. Who knew?)

Runto and Salman Rushdie go way back, possibly even before birth.(Runto's memory is weakening.)

Anyone else besides Agent X see that movie last week with Barbara Eden, Bill Shatner, Roddy Mcdowell, Traci Lords, Danny Most, the blond guy from Hardcastle & McCormick, and Runto's sister, Morgan Fairchild? THIS was a cinema event!
