Thanks Hank and Leslie. Glad to see you on here. This should assuage those who are wondering about the nonparticipation of the Reunion Committee. Where's Jeff Bringle? Congratulations Walter; you're message #300. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean in message #99 though. It doesn't make sense at points. I'll say that all the people on the "Missing" list are there because the committee mailed them something and the mailing came back because of a bad address. If you've talked to them, have them send their mailing address to Chris Perello (or you could do that if you have their addresses). Nobody asked me not to list their names or put them on the missing list.

Hey Alan just a question about the missing classmates, I know this question has been asked but I am over forty and can't remember from one day to the other," as my kids and wife will say from time to time" I know aof several names that are not posted on the missing classmates list. have you actually contacted some of them and they have asked you not to post their names for one reason or another? thats really the question. Do you know if there is a way to find some of these people that you could share with us so we as classmates could do some research ourselves and help the cause for the reunion?

Kevin-Buddy, 25 years have fogged your memory a little, me-thinks. The Senior Home-Ec group consisted of those you named, except it was Chris Pedicord (not Ben) and it also included Ron Skinner. But he did not get to share in the year-end cooking project because he was in Hawaii. I remember people kept coming in wondering why the building smelled the way it did. I have two words for what we did, and pretty much sums up a few of my escapades in school, ..Naive and stupid.

Candy it sounds that by being a late bloomer was what you needed. I believe that most of us didn't find ourselves until later in life. If I'm not mistaken there are a whole lot of us still looking for the brass ring and to shine in some sort of light. Unfortunitally some people never find themselves, who they are and who they should become. Its funny to think of haveing all that I now know back in high school. I don't think I would have been so shy and would have asked every girl out that I wanted to in spite of what people thought. As I get older I am finally realizing that life is too short and it goes by quicker every day, ya need to reach for that brass ring a lot sooner in life or someone else will and leave you in the dust and wondering just what you missed out on.

I'm surprised the male contingent has so much to say on the message board! Good for you guys. I have been reading messsages and profiles and just have to shake my head, did everyone have a good time in school except me? All I remember is having to work 6 days a week with my folks and staying home on Friday and Saturday nights my soph and jr years. However my sr year was somewhat better, although in retrospect I wish I had gotten around a lot more. There were a lot of great looking guys I would have liked to have gone out with but unfortunately we were all locked into the small town mentality of individual perception. I didn't get a chance to blossom until after I left SLO, too bad. I was a hell of a lot more fun than most people realized! I would love to get to the reunion, not sure if I can, just to see all the gorgeous men. Unfortunately for all of us, fear was a big part of the high school days, afraid to ask someone out, afraid of what people would say, afraid of how things looked. I regret that most of all. I could have had so much more fun. Although a lot of my fun was pretty secretive, that was when I learned to love fast cars and I still do! Whatever happened to Tom Rustin (he lived down the street from me on Caudill) and Wayne Craviero? Does anyone know where Richard Blackstone is? He was class of 1973 I think, we had a brief thing and I wasn't very nice to him at the end, I'd like to apologize for that one. regards

I feel really jelous of those of you who live in SLO, After I married we tried to move back and made it as far as Bakersfield. from Utah that was a big strech. unforrtunally it wasn't close enough and without much of an education to back me We decided to move back and for me to go back to school. I miss the coast and the town it was a good place to grow up. not that I did much of that there. I think I was always in trouble with my parents. As is my son now. He's a good kid just all boy, too much like me, trouble finds him wherever he goes. Does anyone look at there yearbook and see what people wrote? maybe the thought for the week ought to be to tell one of the hottest things written in your yearbook. let me know what you think

Hey All, Haven't forgotten you just a little busy lately. I was just going over the messages for the last week because Monday mornings are the best time for me to play on the net without distractions, and I came across the art of T.P.ing I'll admit I did help Jeff on some of his projects and was proud of the prowness of avoiding detection, in our own minds. I also suffered the retribution or distinction of turn about being fairplay, except the young ladies involved where caught in the act by my parents and invited in for sodas and ice cream, I beleive if the story was told right because I was sleeping at the time. To all you that particapated thank you for the ego boost. We could use all the help we could get in high school. Another incident I remember well was after a " Papa Do Run Do Run"concert at the gym when a bunch of us decided to race through town afterward and there not being a policeman in sight for a good half hour. When we finaly came to our wits and slowed down, low and behold they showed up. I don't think anyone got caught that night. Well I'll try to get back sooner. Bye for now, Roy

I can't believe some of you guys and gals remembering all those teachers names. and the girls that you had crushes on. I sang in the carosels with Terri Burket everyday and was even asked to a backwards dance by her. But for the life of me could not tremember her name until someome said it on the message board. She was dating Paul Phillips at the time and I didn't want to get in trouble with a friend for dating his girlfriend, I also was somehow hoping that Joey Fowble would ask me to the dance as I had a Super bad crush on her all the way through school. I really don't think she knew that I was even alive. but I felt like I didn't fit in anywhere and was somewhat shy. I also chased Mary Lewis. Regarding those bucolic high school days... ...what comes to mind is hanging around Avila Beach in the summer, going to Poly Royal in the spring, and walking to Ed's Takeout for lunch (two cheeseburgers, fries, and a medium orange drink: 80 cents!). Wierd counseling sessions with Mr. Morrow, who told me I would have to stop living with my head in the clouds. Going to the "Moor" coffee shop on Osos St. with Mr. Johnson and the French class. And, of course, all the teenage angst that served as a constant undertone for everything else. The years have gone by, the angst has faded, and only the residue, filtered through nostalgia for my youth, remains.

Wow...lots of new posts. I love it...keep it up. Anyone remember swimming at Nuss pool in the summer. When i lived on Palm St., we were there everyday. I think it was .25 cents to swim. Diving off the high dive was always a highlite! I remember i once did a back flop. I was sore for a week, it knocked the wind right out of me. In fact i learned to swim there, my teachers were Uncle Phil and Maura Hogan's Mom. Uncle Phil wasnt very keen on little 7 year old babies afarid of the water. I remember him throwing me into the deep water. I learned very fast that summer. Mike Berg.....the TP King? Who would have known. My ninth grade crush goes to Joanne Dowty (76). My years at SLOSH were the only consecutive years I spent in any school until college. The only part I would have changed is some of the classes I took and I wouldn't have been so afraid of what other people thought of me. I more than likely would have made my changes in the 3 years after. By the way I don't remember a truck driving up the steps, it was a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by Corey Hilberg, he was not a student but a good friend of Ron McDonald. If I remember right after he conquered the steps he took some giant chunks out of the PE fields as he jumped the different levels of the fields. That is the only step driving trick that I can remember.

Regarding the question of the week, I would challenge some of the stupid things that some of the teachers said. Remember Mr. Tyner. He would have a quiz every week. Every quiz would include the same question: If you had a choice of two jobs, both the same, and one paid more, which would you choose? His answer was: It depends upon the value of the dollar. If you didn't give this answer, you were wrong no matter what your reasoning. I would like to have a word or two about that things like that now. This may be our best question of the week so far, at least as far as focusing people's replies. I'm going along with what most of you have said: I would have gotten involved in more things and gotten to know more people. I spent a lot of time studying and trying to get good grades, but now I realize there is more to life. I recently was on a committee evaluating scholarship applications, and I'm amazed at all the things high school students are involved in these days (and still are able to get good grades). And Jill, don't feel bad about bailing out after a dance or so. I never even tried it once.

I don't know if you noticed this either, but the message counter seems to be stuck at 250. Apparently, that's the maximum number of messages that our message board can hold. After that, each additional message knocks out one of the older ones, starting with the oldest. To prevent the loss of some of these older messages, I've started to archive the messages. I've done the first hundred so far (it's kind of tedious), but I'm afraid the first three are lost in cyberspace. I know that I was first and Matt Morris was second, but I'm not sure who was third. About that question of the week. I've enjoyed reading our message board so I thought I'd share also... Better than those guys reading and laughing and are afraid to even let us know their occupations.(Heck, I assist Doctors looking inside your guts) Whats up with that? I guess I should have participated in more activities besides just sports. I think after a dance or so of just standing around I decided to be a "nonparticipant". Had I practiced dancing abit and gotten more coordinated then maybe I would have done better in my left/right marching coordination in the Army. I did at least a "million" push-ups because I just didn't get that left right business. I was forever 1/2 step behind. Anybody in the military would know how much abuse that would cause. The fun thing that came out of it, was I broke the Record 2for doing the most ever push-ups in a 2 minute time period. The adrenaline was pumping and I did 86. So I didn't go the the dances or proms, but at least I got to hang out at the pool with a bunch of guys in Speedos! Please... no Laughing! especially from you cowards that won't even post a hello on the message board. If anybody bites, just bite back and smile!

I thought of a high school story I hadn't thought of in years. Since I didn't really do anything else to cause or get into trouble, I did do a lot of TPing. We were TPing a friends house, when the police came up their street. I ran around to the back of the house and somehow, scaled a 6 foot concrete block wall. Those few that remember me in HS might remember that I was NOT the type to ever go over a high wall. I don't know how I did it. But I didn't get caught! It was a miracle escape. I used to LOVE to go TPing. Now I'd be afraid of getting shot or something.

Hi, Mikey! Coach Burrows, right? What a freak- You never got an "Atta boy!" when you did something right, you only heard from him when you screwed up. Half the time he wouldn't tell you how to avoid the same mistake the next time. Yeah there were a lot of us that never got dirty. It was a little confusing after starting most of my 9th grade games. I remember a few of us getting in a game once- of course, we were whuppin' up on Atascadero 62-0 when the call came. I don't know what made me want to play in 11th grade. Good to hear from you-

On the subject of the QOTW, this is a good one. Very scary stuff! I wish I had stuck with football all three years. I had a terible coach in tenth grade who would play the same 11 guy's both way's. We lost all 10 games so I got pissy and quit. The last game after I made my statement, everyone got to play. Also ditto on all the other coments you guy's made. High school was really tough. 9th grade was just perfect. I got fair grades, lot's of good friends then we all splinterd off in High School. The bottom line is I wish I had gotten to know all of you better and been a better friend to those who reached out to me. Last I wish I had spent more time in class learning the easy way instead of the degree I now hold from the school of "Hard Knocks". Today I am very active in two clubs with a lot of parallel's to High School Politics and I love it. So I wish I had been involved back then even though it was precived to be un-cool at the time by some.

Jeff....ditto for me too for not knowing about your glasses. As for the question of the week(s), while i think i pretty much knew almost everyone. Not really getting know more of my friends deep down has sometimes bothered me. Jeff we knew each other from baseball...but not anything else. Carol we knew each other from church, but not much more than that. I guess having a serious conversation at that age was limited at best.(GRIN) I know that i tried to fit into a few groups, but like Carol, i felt inferior. I guess thats why i tried making some many friends. Being the newpaper photographer helped, having that camera around my neck made it ez to meet people. Funny to think after all these years the feelings we all harbored. But on the other hand, sure is nice being able to speak to friends about them all now!! See ya soon.

Carol, nobody but Rex Fritz & I knew, and only because we'd had our eyes checked at the same time. The selection of "fashion frames" back then was hideous(especially when they were chosen for you), so we looked at each other & said "yeah, right!" and never wore them. Stupid teenage male vanity strikes again. I started wearing them at Cal Poly because I hardly ever ran into anyone from school when I was there. Besides, they had suddenly become "intelligent " looking. These 'character lines' I have around my eyes are from squinting to see the board in Frick's class because the light was so poor upstairs.

I too, might have gotten to know more people in High School, but it was not unusual to be intimidated by kids who were not in your "clique", especially the jocks, cheerleaders and "socies". I have conversations with some of them now and wonder why I thought I was so inferior to them 25 years ago. I also wish I had not dropped out of orchestra and quit playing the violin when I entered high schoool. Jeff, I never knew about the glasses...

Ditto, Susanne- I think I missed a lot by not contributing more and involving myself in more school activities. I'd have liked to have spent more time having actual conversations with some of the teachers, too. Studying? I was too busy wrestling with the daily dramas of a typical teenager. One thing I would have done for sure is wear those stupid glasses I'd had in my pocket since 7th grade! I wouldn't have had to sit up front- plus, I probably would have hit more baseballs and had a different career by now.

Answer to QOTW. I would be less shy and more outgoing and involved in school activities and clubs. There were a lot of great people I didn't get to know very well. I was very busy with Church activities, but I could have made more friends. It wasn't like I was spending a lot of my time on homework! Well, come to think of it, I would prepare better for college and put more effort into my grades. They were good, but they could have been a LOT better. But, oh well, I was having fun.

For those of you who are complaining about not enough participation on this message board, let me point out some statistics:
-It took us 37 days to get the first 100 messages, and 7 days to get the second 100.
-This is the 24th message for today alone; it took the first 12 days of this message board to reach message #24.
-We've had posts by 26 identified members of the Class of 1975, the wife of one, and Runto.
-We had three new people post for the first time today (Robert McQuillen, Mike Berg, and Lee Anne Meinhold).
We're getting there, and we still have 72 days to go until the Reunion. Like you, I'd like even more people to get involved. Where are our class leaders, like Conan and Rene Schanberger (Likely to Succeed), Robbie Sorenson (Likely to Become President), and Vernon Vincent and Gina Snyder (School Spirit)? I'd also like to have some of the people who have already posted become regulars. For example, Karen Shevlin posted message #5, way back on April 17, but we haven't heard from her since. Still, though, I think things are going pretty well so far, and I think they'll get even better as the Reunion approaches.

Alan- "Drawn to the dark side"? Isn't that a bit melodramatic? I have to take issue with your prejudicial characterizations of members of this class. It's 25 years later, this isn't John Q. Public- these are people you and I went to school with. Have you actually read their bio's? The people who visit this site don't deserve to be distrusted. If you recall, we had plenty of criminals in our class- but I severely doubt that they even own a computer, much less that they would visit this site with any frequency. Alan, it's a brunch, not a Beatles concert! They're a couple of cheap tickets to a nice, relaxed get-together as a function of our reunion. I may be wrong on this, but I don't think there's much chance of an angry mob with flaming sticks protesting the outcome of this one. We have eleven perfectly capable, trustworthy committee members who are also classmates- if it even happens that they choose to entertain this idea, then they will also be able to act as a jury of our peers in making a final determination. It ain't rocket science- With all due respect, try to loosen your tie once in awhile and get out and mingle with the world outside the classroom walls.

Jeff, I'm afraid there's no way to verify who visitor 1975 is. We would have to accept the person's word on it. With two brunches and a Memory Book at stake, I'm afraid that someone will be drawn to the dark side and make a false claim. Do we want to be responsible for that?
